Help with Lambent
Answers to common questions about Lambent on Apple Vision Pro and Lambent Server. If yours isn’t here, email gallery@yui-life.com.
Getting started
- What you need. Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 26 or later. Lambent Server is optional and free, for a Mac (macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon) or a Windows 10 or 11 PC.
- Add a folder. In Lambent, open Sources and choose Choose a folder..., then pick a folder on the headset or in iCloud Drive. Lambent plays MP4, MOV and M4V files from folders.
- Add network storage. Sources, Add network storage (WebDAV)..., then enter the address of your share. Leave the sign-in empty if the share needs none.
- Stream from your computer. Install Lambent Server from the Mac or Windows page and choose your video folders. Lambent finds it on the same Wi-Fi network and lists it under Sources. Lambent Server also prepares other formats, such as MKV, for playback.
- Try it without a video. Settings, Diagnostics, Show the test picture on a dome (or on a screen).
While you watch
- Move the picture. Pinch and drag to turn the dome or move the screen. Press and hold the Digital Crown to bring everything back to center.
- Comfort. If close-ups strain your eyes, set Depth Ease to Gentle, Balanced or Strong in the player controls. It moves very near objects back to a comfortable distance and keeps the rest of the depth.
- The picture looks doubled, squashed or wrapped wrong. Open the video’s details and choose Choose the format, then pick the kind of video (flat, 180° or 360°, 2D or side-by-side). Lambent remembers your choice for that video. Use the detected format undoes it.
- Back to your library. Use the back button at the top left of the player controls.
Lambent can’t find my computer
- Make sure the headset and the computer are on the same network, and that Lambent Server is running.
- Lambent needs Local Network access. If you declined it, turn it on for Lambent in the headset’s Settings app, under Privacy & Security, Local Network.
- On Windows, allow Lambent Server through the firewall on private networks (TCP and UDP port 47800). The installer offers to do this.
- Still nothing? In Sources choose Add a PC by address... and type the computer’s IP address or name, such as
192.168.1.118orstudio-pc.local. - Playback stutters on Wi-Fi: use Ethernet for the computer and 5 or 6 GHz Wi-Fi for the headset. The Connection Lab in Lambent compares the Standard and Turbo connections on your network.
Moving Lambent Enhance to a new computer
Don’t buy it again: a new purchase is a separate subscription. Move the one you have instead.
- Ask for a code. Install Lambent Server on the new computer and open the Lambent Enhance card on its Enhancement page. Enter the email from your purchase and choose Email me a code. You don’t need the old computer, and the email on any of your receipts will do. If you paid with more than one email, repeat this for each.
- Move it. Open the link in the email, copy the code, paste it into the card and choose Move to this PC. The code works once, for one hour.
- Your old computer. Enhance stops there the next time it checks your purchases.
- Bought in the App Store or Google Play? Your account needs an email first. On the computer that has Enhance, open Add an email to this account on the same card, ask for a code, paste it and choose Add email. Then move Enhance as above. If that computer is gone, email us.
